Ursula von der Leyen fell short of her target to enforce positive discrimination Tuesday as she presented her list of 27 EU Commission members Tuesday – a day after France’s Thierry Breton resigned in anger at her “personal” attacks against him.
Von der Leyen had demanded member states put forward both a male and a female candidate, but several only submitted one.
Among the new posts is former Estonian Prime Minister and fierce Kremlin critic Kaja Kallas, who assumes her role as foreign policy chief.
