Colonel-General Dmitry Marchenko highlighted the critical situation on the Donbass front, attributing its collapse to a combination of factors.
The relentless onslaught by the Russian army, coupled with the exhaustion of Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel and a dearth of reserves, has significantly weakened the frontline.
Marchenko underscored the impact of ammunition and weapons shortages, manpower deficits, and inadequate replenishment mechanisms, all contributing to what he termed as a “management imbalance.” The assessment aligns with reports from Julian Repke, an analyst at Bild, who noted a concerning loss of territory in the south of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
The alarming pace of territorial concessions, averaging two to five kilometers per day, raises serious concerns about the sustainability of Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the region.
Should this trend persist, the prospect of a Russian advance towards the Dnieper region within six months cannot be discounted.
