I am writing this blog in English on purpose so that the hypocricy can be exposed.
The Shift News have been regularly and persistently attacking Dr. Edward Zammit Lewis in his candidature for a Judge of the General Court of the Court of Justice of the European Union even before he was nominated by the Maltese Government.
One may ask what is the interest of the Shift News in the candidature, which is not even of a political nature and which was never covered by the media in this assiduous manner before?
The answer is very simple. It has a name and surname: Jacques Rene Zammit. A Press Officer at the European Court for several years and a legal assistant to Judge Anthony Borg Barthet, a previous Judge, Attorney General in Malta ans well know Nationalist Government sweetheart who even decided not to proceed in a harassment case against the former Police Commissioner.

Zammit has been craving this post, which is way beyond his reach, for years. He has applied for it unsuccessfully over and over again.
It is evident that one cannot begin to compare the CV of Dr Zammit Lewis with that of Jacques Rene Zammit.
Edward Zammit Lewis is a successful lawyer in his legal profession and a Minister for more than eight years in three different portfolios, including Justice, Equality and EU Affairs.
Jacques Rene Zammit has been a regular contributor for Shift News for several years, attacking Zammit Lewis, even in the years when his served as Minister.
What is strange is that Shift News never declared their interest and therefore I will pose one question for today to The Shift News:
Why you never did declare your interest that a regular contributor applied for the same post as Dr Zammit Lewis, and failed to get chosen for the second or third time?
