This result in Thüringen (Thuringia) is extremely significant.
Not only did Alternative for Germany (AfD) garner the most votes (33.5%) but it is the most pro-German and right wing faction of the AfD which did so.
Björn Höcke leads the Thuringia AfD and is one of the most popular and hard-line figures in the party.
Mr. Höcke is in favor of repatriation of non-Germans, the three-child family as official state and social policy, a return to traditional gender norms, and a robust self-confident Germany.
He wants to abolish the Euro and return national currencies, and end Germany’s post-war culture of shame.
And then there is the Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) which came in third with 14.5% of the overall vote.
The BSW was founded by its titular leader, Sahra Wagenknecht, and is best labeled as an ‘anti-woke’ leftist party that opposes mass immigration, cancel-culture, and promotes the interests of unions and the social welfare state.
Together with AfD the two openly anti-immigration and anti-foreign adventurism parties have garnered 47% of the vote in Thuringia.
German democracy, in the limited fashion it exists, is changing swiftly in a more nationalist direction.
