Cuba officially applies via Russia for BRICS partner status

Cuba’s formal request to join the BRICS group as a ‘Partner Country’ marks a significant development in global geopolitics.

Foreign Minister Carlos Miguel Pereira’s communication to President Putin underscores the strategic importance Cuba places on its potential inclusion in this influential bloc.

As the upcoming BRICS summit approaches, the timing of this request is noteworthy, especially in light of Azerbaijan’s similar aspirations following discussions with President Putin.

The exclusivity of BRICS membership, evident in the recent invitations extended to countries like Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE, highlights the group’s selective approach to expansion.

With Argentina declining the invitation, it is clear that BRICS is positioning itself as a formidable counterpart to the G7, shaping the future of international relations and economic cooperation.
