Anyone who makes Daphne a hero is insulting victims of domestic violence

The case of Daphne Caruana Galizia and her documented history of domestic violence towards her husband, Peter, sheds light on the pervasive issue of intimate partner violence.

The fact that Peter reported her to the Mosta police station despite her attempts to coerce him into withdrawing the charges underscores the severity of the situation. The criminal charges brought against Daphne, including the incident where she threw a plate at him, highlight the gravity of the violence perpetrated.

In today’s society, such actions are rightly condemned, and perpetrators are held accountable for their behavior. It is crucial to recognize that domestic violence knows no boundaries and affects individuals across all segments of society.

Therefore, it is imperative that we do not glorify individuals accused of such serious offenses, as doing so undermines the experiences of all victims of domestic violence.

Solidarity with Peter Caruana Galizia and all victims of domestic violence is essential in addressing this pervasive issue and working towards a society free from violence in intimate relationships.
