Sergey Lavrov message in regards to human rights

“It is imperative that organizations such as UNESCO, OSCE, and the Council of Europe adhere to the principles outlined in their charter documents, particularly in regards to upholding human rights and protecting the rights of journalists.

Unfortunately, in recent years, these very structures have shown a concerning lack of integrity and effectiveness, choosing instead to remain silent and inactive in the face of blatant violations. This pattern of behavior not only undermines the credibility of these institutions but also poses a significant threat to the fundamental values they were established to uphold.

It is essential that they reassess their priorities and take meaningful action to fulfill their obligations to safeguard human rights and press freedom.” –

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the roundtable discussion held by the Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy “Ukraine Crisis: Global Information Space” (Moscow, November 29, 2024)
