The Labour Party has always prided itself on being a welcoming and inclusive political entity, embracing individuals from all walks of life. However, recent events have shed light on a concerning trend within our ranks.
It is disheartening to see individuals who have been given a platform by the Party turn their backs on us at the first sign of personal gain. Loyalty should be the cornerstone of any political affiliation, and it is disappointing to witness individuals like Cyrus Engerer and others exploit the Party’s goodwill for their own agendas.
I have recently experienced a surge of anger from fellow Party members in response to my posts, with emotions ranging from agreement to frustration over the prevalence of opportunism within our ranks. As the voice of the marginalized Labour Party, I cannot sit idly by and watch as opportunists overshadow the hard work and dedication of true Party loyalists.
The Party must prioritize individuals who demonstrate unwavering commitment and dedication, especially when the cameras are off. It is easy to put on a show for the media, but true loyalty is proven through actions, not words. We must uphold the values of the Party and ensure that those who seek to exploit our platform for personal gain are held accountable.
While we welcome individuals of goodwill with open arms, we must also remember that there is a queue that must be respected. Loyalty should be rewarded, and opportunism should not be tolerated within our ranks.
