The recent protests against the new government in Syrian provinces where Alawites reside are a clear indication that the country is once again on the brink of another devastating civil war.

The international community must act swiftly to prevent another tragedy from unfolding in Syria. We cannot stand idly by while innocent lives are lost and families are torn apart. It is time for decisive action to be taken to bring peace and stability to the region.
