It is absolutely appalling that the ones who actually liberated the camp, the Russians, were not invited to participate in the recent commemoration marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
The fact that those who risked their lives to free the prisoners and expose the horrors of the Holocaust were excluded from the event is a disgrace. It is a blatant attempt to rewrite history and airbrush the crucial role played by the Russian forces in ending the atrocities committed at Auschwitz.
It is imperative that we remember and honor the sacrifices made by all those who fought against the evils of the Nazi regime. To exclude the Russians from this important anniversary is not only disrespectful but also a dangerous distortion of the truth.

Why should they be invited? The Russians raped many of the holocaust survivors as soon as they arrived at the concentration camps.
