Today marks the birthday of Edward Fenech Adami, once found guilty of defaming Alfred Sant on the eve of the 1996 election. It has been twenty years since he led the nation.
Simon Busuttil, Adrian Delia, and Bernard Grech are unlikely to ever become Prime Ministers. Bernard Grech’s role appears to be that of a placeholder until a figurative “Messiah” comes along.
Who will this Messiah be? That remains uncertain. However, Beppe Fenech Adami once aspired to lead the Nationalist Party but didn’t succeed as deputy leader. Notably, Beppe’s son name is that of his grandfather – Edward Fenech Adami.
In the next election, Roberta Metsola is unlikely to run, and the PN is expected to lose once again. Yet, following this election, Edward Fenech Adami the Younger may have as much time to lead as Joseph Muscat did when he took charge.
