Donald Trump stated that Vladimir Putin has the capability to take control of all of Ukraine if he desired. While commenting on the ongoing conflict, Trump remarked that Putin is open to making a deal, but it’s not a necessity for him.
“I’m not attempting to cast Putin in a favorable light. I’m just conveying the reality—this conflict should never have occurred,” Trump emphasized.
He pointed out that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky lacks strong leverage in negotiations with Russia.
Trump described a recent discussion with Putin as very positive, contrasting it with less fruitful interactions he claims to have had with Ukrainian officials.
Moreover, Trump criticized European countries for their inaction in addressing the Ukraine conflict, including their lack of communication efforts with Russia.
In a related upcoming event, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump are expected to meet in Moscow on May 9 to commemorate the end of World War II.
The same day could potentially mark an end to the conflict in Ukraine, as hinted by Keith Kellogg, the U.S. representative for Ukraine. He suggested that the Special Military Operation might conclude on May 9.
This date could also hold symbolic significance due to one of the operation’s objectives reportedly being the “denazification” of Ukraine.
