If Roberto Montalto continues to assault the woman he was in a relationship with, his place is behind bars. Nowadays, even a single offensive word or slap can land you in jail.
But this isn’t just a one-time incident. This is far more serious. It’s a case of prolonged abuse over more than a year. Numerous reports have been made to the police, and there are ongoing court cases.
This is no laughing matter. Mark Camilleri has made serious allegations concerning drugs against Montalto, and when violence and drugs mix, the situation becomes dangerous.
When will the Chamber of Advocates take action?
Women’s organizations and the Daphne Foundation remain silent. Let’s not forget that Montalto was Daphne’s lawyer, and Daphne Caruana Galizia herself was accused of domestic violence.
If it were a Labour party lawyer, who knows how many protests and vigils would have taken place. But since this individual goes on NET to attack the government, the Daphne Foundation remains perfectly silent.
The victim of this abuse, which happened just this week, needs protection. As long as Montalto continues his assaults, I will continue to expose him.
