Pawlu Pace and the MUMN have found themselves embroiled in yet another scandal that reeks of exploitation and deceit. This time, it’s not just about overworking the leave savings scheme for an outrageous 2,300 hours—it’s a full-blown racket that should make everyone’s blood boil.
Numerous complaints from nurses—who pay the highest union dues in Europe—have unveiled some shocking truths about the MUMN. This union, unlike any other, offers no services on Saturdays and is practically unreachable in the afternoons throughout the workweek. I’ve personally tried calling their number day after day, but after 1:30 pm, it seems the entire union staff vanishes into thin air, despite having six government-released union officials supposedly working full-time.
But the bombshell doesn’t stop there. Let’s talk about these six so-called officers who are pocketing our tax money, masquerading as dedicated public servants. Pawlu Pace, Colin Galea, Alexander Manche’, George Saliba, Chantelle-Marie Muscat, and William Grech are all exploiting a system that pays them for 46.5 hours per week, yet they’re barely clocking in 30. Just imagine, they’re all getting paid overtime for hours they don’t even put in!
And here’s the kicker—while they should be grinding out a 40-hour workweek, they are only offering their presence from 7:15 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday. That’s a brazen theft of 16.5 hours a week, with the overtime hours being nothing but a figment of imagination. These phantom hours total up to a scandalous 1,027 hours per officer per year in unearned pay.
This is not just manipulation—it’s grand larceny from the pockets of taxpayers. How does such blatant misconduct get overlooked? I’m calling on the Police and the Attorney General to add this entire racket to their list of charges against Pace and his accomplices. The Department of Industrial Relations should not rest until they unravel this web of deceit and bring justice where it’s due.
