The $1 Million Plot – Sam Sittlington’s Dubious Deal

Let’s not forget Sam Sittlington, notoriously dubbed the “$1 Million Man,” has been embroiled in a scandal involving a highly questionable contract proposal to the Maltese Police. At a time when he was serving as an independent expert in court, pocketing part of an €11 million payment, Sittlington decided to pitch a consultancy gig to the police, raising a storm of controversy.

In a stunning confirmation, Alfred Camilleri, the respected former Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary, exposed these dealings. Sittlington audaciously claimed it was Commissioner Angelo Gafa who requested him to propose this lucrative deal. In a breach of protocol, Sittlington failed to inform the Magistrate, under whose purview he was bound to operate, choosing instead to collaborate secretly with Assistant Commissioner Alexandra Mamo, who was entangled in the inquiry herself.

Adding a layer of intrigue, Sam Sittlington —a moniker befitting his newfound notoriety—admitted to recalling the proposal’s submission but conveniently blanked on the pricing specifics, dodging questions about whether a figure was ever directly quoted. The suggested fee? A staggering €936,000. Predictably, the Finance Ministry dismissed the proposal, but not before the inquiry intriguingly turned its scrutiny toward Mr. Camilleri.
