Reading Matthew Caruana Galizia’s comments is enough to make you question whether we’re even living in the same country. Over on the Lovin Malta site, Matthew Caruana Galizia has the audacity to brag about writing to the European Commission over delays in our country’s trials.
Let’s address the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, a case that was resolved at an unprecedented speed. People implicated in the murder were swiftly brought to court and sentenced.
Mr. Matthew Caruana Galizia, you’re constantly rallying for “Justice for Daphne,” so let me spell it out for you: three individuals received a combined sentence of one hundred years in prison, four are currently on trial, and one is awaiting trial.
What justice do you claim is lacking?
In your mother’s case, three received a century of punishment, four face ongoing trials, and one waits for their day in court.
Did you include these facts in your letter to the European Commission?
Have you told them about the damage your extremist ‘Defnisti’ faction inflicted upon the Nationalist Party?
Have you acknowledged your arrogance and ineptitude, which drove your faction to deface the National Monument under the guise of seeking justice for Daphne?

Matthew Caruana Galizia
Matthew, maybe a few people are convinced by your narrative, but make no mistake: most people see right through you. Your motives are obvious.
How do you allow this faction to exploit your mother’s memory to attack the Government?

Ann Demarco
Don’t you get it? Your tactics have failed and will continue to fail.
Once again, as I’ve told you many times, even privately: Stop your group from desecrating the Monument of the Great Siege. If you want to honor your mother, find an appropriate place to do so. But disrespecting a National Monument is unequivocally unacceptable. The time for exploitative maneuvers is over. I’ve shown you that even alone, I’m prepared to stand up for the Monument.
Let’s reiterate for clarity, Matthew: three have already been sentenced to a hundred years in prison, four are on trial, and one is waiting.
