New Placards Placed at Great Siege Monument Expose Robert Aquilina’s Domestic Violence and Illegal Arrest Charges
Valletta, 16th June 2025 —
Earlier this morning, a new set of placards was installed at the Great Siege Monument in Valletta to shed light on the domestic violence case involving Robert Aquilina, a figure who has long portrayed himself as a champion of justice and good governance in Malta.
The placards highlight a reality that Aquilina and his allies would rather keep hidden: like his self-proclaimed hero Daphne Caruana Galizia, Aquilina has now faced the justice system himself, not as an activist, but as a defendant. He was interrogated by the police and has since been arraigned in court, charged with domestic violence and the illegal arrest of his wife.
This action at the monument is intended to remind the public and the media that accountability must be universal. The Great Siege Monument, often used selectively to promote partisan narratives, now bears the truth that no one is immune from scrutiny — not even those who shout the loudest about the rule of law.
“The public has a right to know the whole story, not just the version packaged by Robert Aquilina and his circle. This morning’s act is a simple but firm reminder that the same standards demanded of others must apply to him as well.”

This symbolic gesture calls for transparency, genuine accountability, and an end to hypocrisy in the name of “activism”.
