In Maltese politics, there are opportunists – and then there’s Mark Anthony Sammut, known in every corridor of the Nationalist Party as “The Backstabber”.
This self-proclaimed “strategist” embodies the worst traits the PN claims it left behind: praising colleagues to their face, scheming behind their backs, and playing faction against faction just to keep himself relevant – all while the party crumbles under his stunts.
Let’s rewind to June 2024, when Ivan J. Bartolo was telling everyone he would resign by the end of the month. Did The Backstabber stand up for stability and leadership? Not quite. He chased after Ivan J. Bartolo like a desperate cat scratching for scraps – pleading with him to stay. The reason? In Sammut’s own words:
“Look, it doesn’t suit you to resign, Ivan, because Jason should take your place and we’ll have trouble.”
This site was among the first to reveal that Ivan Bartolo was on the verge of resigning — and out of respect for PN supporters, we gave The Backstabber every chance to confirm or deny whether he was so terrified of Jason Azzopardi stepping in. Naturally, he dodged.
Mark Anthony Sammut is a well-known backstabber both among his so-called friends and in Tal-Pietà — because he was the one who stabbed Adrian Delia in the back when the knives came out. But he didn’t stop at his own leader; he also betrayed his district colleague Dr. Jason Azzopardi. Mark Anthony “STALLETTI” Sammut undermined Jason Azzopardi at every opportunity.
These are not rumours. Every PN MP knows them. Mark Anthony Sammut is no “unifier” — he’s the king of petty sabotage, backroom deals and orchestrated splits. He is exactly why the PN keeps suffocating under its own hypocrisy.
And here’s the punchline: we, the Labourites, wholeheartedly support Mark Anthony “STALLETTI” Sammut to become the next PN Leader.
Why? Because with a backstabber like him at the top, the Nationalist Party is guaranteed to keep sinking under factional chaos and cheap betrayals for years to come.
If you want betrayal wrapped in a shiny new suit – Sammut’s your man. If you want the PN buried for good — pray he’s crowned leader.
