Less than 24 hours later, the tremors hit: throughout Tuesday, frantic manoeuvres were underway inside the PN’s backrooms to force Alex Borg to break an agreement and stand against Delia.

Yes — break an agreement. There was a clear deal between Delia and Borg: if one of them contested, the other would stay out. But the panic inside the PN was so intense that this gentleman’s pact was torn to shreds overnight.

Late on Tuesday, Borg confirmed what everyone suspected: he’s in the race.
In a Facebook post dripping with coded attacks on Delia, Borg declared the PN needs “generational change and a winning mentality.” Translation? No more catastrophic defeats like the ones Delia delivered every time he led the party to the polls.
The so-called “new PN” is proving to be nothing more than old panic and bad decisions recycled.
