Delia’s Delusion: Trying to Block the Only Man From Both, Who Can Save the PN

Adrian Delia’s latest manoeuvre reeks of desperation. Reports emerging from within the Nationalist Party confirm Delia is quietly pressuring Alex Borg to step aside and not contest the leadership race.

What sheer arrogance.

Every internal survey carried out in recent weeks points to one undeniable truth: Alex Borg has astronomical support among the party delegates. He is, by far, the favourite to lead the PN from the two candidates out of its miserable stagnation and towards any chance of electoral relevance.

But instead of stepping aside for the party’s best chance, Delia insists on fighting a battle he cannot win. His personal ambition is blinding him to reality. Worse still, it is a betrayal of the Nationalist Party at its most critical juncture.

Because if Alex Borg turns his back now, under Delia’s pressure, it will not be just Borg betraying his supporters – it will be the entire PN betraying itself. This is the truth delegates need to understand: Delia wants to drag the party down with him rather than admit that Borg is the only one with enough credibility, popularity, and energy to revive a dead institution from both of them.

It is time for Adrian Delia to realise that pretending Alex Borg is not contesting will not erase his existence or his support. The party is not his personal fiefdom to control and suffocate.

If the PN is to stand a chance, delegates must make their voices heard. Because the greatest betrayal right now would be to deny the party its only hope – simply to satisfy Adrian Delia’s delusions of grandeur.
