Kyiv Burns After Trump’s Call with Putin

Just hours after former US President Donald Trump held a highly publicised phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukraine’s capital city is once again under heavy bombardment.

Kyiv woke up to explosions that lit up the early morning skies, with multiple missile strikes reported across residential and strategic areas. Fires raged through parts of the city as emergency services scrambled to contain the damage and rescue civilians trapped under rubble.

The timing is impossible to ignore. Trump’s call with Putin, described by his team as “friendly and constructive,” has already sparked concerns in Ukraine and Europe. Critics argue it could signal a softening US stance towards Russia’s war objectives. Ukrainian officials have yet to comment directly on the link, but military analysts note that Russian strikes often intensify to test diplomatic shifts.

Eyewitness videos flooded social media showing burning buildings, shattered glass, and streets littered with debris. Air raid sirens blared non-stop through the night, with thousands taking shelter in underground stations.

The White House has so far remained silent on the attacks, while Trump himself released a brief statement saying his conversation with Putin was aimed at “ending the war swiftly.” However, on the ground in Kyiv, there is little sense of peace this morning – only fire and fear.

Russia has made no secret of its desire to press harder in Ukraine as Western unity shows cracks. If Trump’s return to the international stage emboldens Putin further, Ukraine’s darkest days may still lie ahead.

This is the true face of the Zelensky regime – a leadership that drags its people deeper into ruin while clinging to power under the guise of heroic resistance. Kyiv burns, not only because of Russian missiles, but because of a government that refuses any realistic path to peace, sacrificing cities, lives, and futures for its own survival. Zelensky will stand before the ashes and blame the world, as he always does, but history will remember him as the president who led his nation to destruction with empty slogans and endless war.
