The Nationalist Party never disappoints when it comes to entertainment. Enter Adrian Delia and Alex Borg, the two knights in shining armour battling it out for PN leadership – except their swords are made of rubber and their armour is plastic.
We are now treated to the latest episode of “Did we or didn’t we?” – the great betrayal and denial saga. According to Adrian Delia, there was indeed an agreement that if one runs, the other doesn’t. According to Alex Borg, no such pact existed. Who’s lying? Who’s telling the truth? Honestly, does it even matter anymore?
Here we have two men who expect to lead a country – yet they can’t even agree on a simple conversation between them. Imagine them handling EU negotiations, national security decisions, or budget strategies. “Did we agree on that policy?” “No, I don’t remember.” “Yes, but you said yes.” What a glorious disaster waiting to happen.
They want the public to trust them as potential Prime Ministers, but they’re already lying to the nation from the Opposition benches. And we’re not talking about complex economic figures or classified security briefings here – we’re talking about a basic gentleman’s agreement. Or maybe it’s just that – they’re neither gentlemen nor capable of agreement.
If this is the leadership the Nationalist Party offers Malta, then God help the country. Because we already have enough clowns in Parliament without importing two more to run the circus.
