He Criticises What He Profited From — The Montekristo
Adrian Delia’s appearance on XTRA last night was yet another masterclass in political hypocrisy. When asked about the issuing of permits to Montekristo, he shamelessly tried to paint himself as a moral crusader — conveniently forgetting the years of silence, complicity, and self-interest that define his record.
Let’s break down the farce.
Delia says he would have voted against Montekristo’s permits. Really?
Where was Adrian Delia between 1998 and 2013 when Montekristo was rising from the ground, expanding into a full-blown complex under the silent blessing of the Nationalist governments he now claims to stand apart from?
What did the PN get in return for looking the other way? And more to the point — what did Adrian Delia personally gain?
Let’s talk about facts.
Over the past eight years, Delia’s own political campaigns and activities have repeatedly used Montekristo.
How many rallies did you organise there, Adrian? How many events did you proudly host at the very site you now condemn?
You can’t have it both ways.
If you truly disagreed with Montekristo’s operations, you wouldn’t have supported it — not with your presence, not with your events, and certainly not with your silence.
So here are a few simple questions for Adrian Delia:
Who paid for your campaign events held at Montekristo?
Who paid for the Nationalist Party’s use of the venue?
Were discounts or sponsorships involved?
Can you issue receipts and payment records for every event you organised there?
Don’t preach ethics when you’ve been part of the circus.
Don’t attack Labour for a reality you embraced with open arms.
Adrian Delia is not the alternative.
He’s a self-serving opportunist — eager to ride whichever wave brings him power, even if it means biting the same hand that fed him for years.
If this is the man who wants to lead the country, then Malta deserves better.
