When Your Hero Is a Tax Evader and a Domestic Abuser, This Is What You Get

When your political saints are fraudsters, wife-beaters, and tax evaders, don’t preach about morality. The PN’s heroes are nothing but criminals in disguise.

Francine, Robert, Daphne: The Holy Trinity of Hate, Crime, and Lies

The Nationalist Party and its propaganda machine love to talk about “rule of law” and “moral leadership.” But when you strip away the slogans, what you’re left with is a cesspool of hypocrisy and criminal behaviour — all carried out under the shadow of their idol, Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Let’s start with the most recent disgrace.

On Thursday, Francine Farrugia, PN councillor in Siġġiewi and darling of the Daphne-worshipping establishment, was charged with money laundering and fraud amounting to €2.4 million — a crime allegedly committed while working at MCAST. A public official abusing her position to defraud the public purse? Sadly, it’s becoming a familiar headline in PN circles.

This is no coincidence. Francine Farrugia’s political idol is Daphne Caruana Galizia — a woman who made her name through venom, slander, and personal vendettas. What the public wasn’t told during her canonisation by the PN media is that Daphne herself had serious problems with the law — starting with her refusal to pay taxes.

In today’s legal context, systematic tax evasion is grounds for money laundering charges. Yes, the very crime for which Farrugia now stands accused is something Daphne would likely have been dragged to court over — had the institutions applied the law equally.

But the rot doesn’t end there.

Let us not forget Robert Aquilina, the loudmouth of Repubblika, who was recently arrested and arraigned in connection with domestic violence. His PN loyalist allies tried to hide it. His friends in the media tried to cover for him. But facts are stubborn things.

Robert Aquilina, like Francine Farrugia, was inspired by Daphne. But Daphne herself had a dark, violent past — one the press refuses to touch. This was a woman who attacked her husband with glass cups and plates, injured him to the point of bleeding, and then intimidated him into dropping the charges, even ridiculing the Police for daring to get involved. That’s not journalism — it’s barbarity.

Yet this is the behaviour glorified by the PN and its orbit. These are the “heroes” they lift up:

  • One laundered millions.

  • One was arrested for domestic abuse.

  • One evaded taxes and assaulted her husband.

And all of them have the audacity to lecture the public about ethics and morality.

While Daphne, Francine, and Robert lie about others, we choose to tell the truth about them. That is real freedom of expression. Not hiding behind libel-proof blogs. Not intimidating whistleblowers. Not bullying families or slandering innocent people for political gain.

The facts are clear: this is a network of deceit, protected by privilege, built on a foundation of violence, tax evasion, and betrayal of public trust.

If Francine Farrugia and Robert Aquilina are the children of Daphne’s legacy, then the Nationalist Party should hang its head in shame.
