Siġġiewi Is Not Palermo — But Falcone Foundation Tried to Make It One

The only people facing criminal charges in Siġġiewi today are linked to the very foundation that claimed to fight crime — Francine Farrugia and Robert Aquilina.

Siġġiewi is not Palermo.

It is — or at least was — one of the most peaceful villages in Malta. A place where people minded their own business, where you didn’t have to lock your doors twice, and where the loudest sound you’d hear in the evening was church bells, not scandal.

Then came the Falcone Foundation.

From day one, we questioned why such an organisation — with all its dramatic mafia symbolism and imported “anti-corruption” rhetoric — chose Siġġiewi of all places. It made no sense. This was never a hotspot for organised crime. The only thing it did was import theatrics and a false narrative.

But irony, as it turns out, has a very cruel sense of humour.

Because the only people in Siġġiewi now making national headlines for criminal charges are directly associated with the Falcone Foundation — Francine Farrugia and Robert Aquilina.

Robert Aquilina

Francine Farrugia, darling of the so-called “rule of law” crowd and PN councillor, charged with money laundering and fraud amounting to €2.4 million.

Robert Aquilina, the self-styled moral crusader, formally charged with domestic violence and illegal arrest.

Is this the moral beacon the Falcone Foundation wanted to plant in Siġġiewi? Is this the model they are exporting as “justice”?

We have one simple question for the Falcone Foundation:

Do you condemn the actions of your own associates — or will you keep pretending nothing happened?

If this was truly about the rule of law, the answer would be immediate and loud. But we won’t hold our breath.
