The Nationalist Party has once again chosen lies and misinformation over facts. In their latest statement, the PN attacked Prime Minister Robert Abela and Labour ministers for being on holiday, while attempting to create a false crisis about Malta’s beaches.
This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to mislead the public. The facts are clear: the Public Health Directorate — the only competent authority on the matter — has consistently classified Maltese beaches in a transparent and professional manner. The vast majority of Malta’s beaches are rated excellent and suitable for swimming.
Instead of relying on science or credible sources, the PN fabricated a narrative of “sewage disasters” and “plagued seas.” Their claims are not backed by any official reports. The Environmental Resources Authority (ERA) has already instructed fish farm operators to conduct clean-up operations where needed, and these are being carried out.
Equally insulting is the PN’s attack on government ministers for taking short summer holidays. August is the period when Maltese and Gozitan families, businesses, and workers traditionally take time off to be with their loved ones. To present this as a scandal is not only hypocritical, but also disrespectful to the Maltese people.
What is truly damaging is the PN’s willingness to undermine Malta’s international reputation just to score cheap political points. This shows, once again, that the Opposition is more interested in fearmongering and negativity than in providing credible alternatives or solutions.

Labour Governs
The Labour Government will continue to focus on facts, transparency, and accountability — working to safeguard our economy, our environment, and the well-being of our citizens — while the PN continues down the path of lies and sabotage.
