Commissioner Gafà: The Man Who Stopped Robert Aquilina in His Tracks
If there is anyone in Malta who had the courage and determination to stop Robert Aquilina, it is Police Commissioner Anġlu Gafà. While others tiptoe around extremists who think they can trample over the institutions of this country, Gafà stood firm. This site gives its full and unconditional support to Commissioner Gafà for the correct, responsible, and strong way he has dealt with characters like notary Aquilina.
Yesterday it was made public that his Police protection was terminated — the same Robert Aquilina known for cowardice and violence against his own wife. And how did Aquilina react? As always, with hysteria. Over the past 24 hours he launched a frenzied attack not only against Commissioner Gafà but even against former Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar, showing once again his hatred towards the police corps.
Let’s be clear: Commissioner Gafà is one of the very few who has had the backbone to stop this fascist in his tracks. Terminating police protection paid by the tax payers was a good decision.
Our only concern is not Aquilina himself — he is irrelevant — but his wife. If he dares once again to unleash violence on her as he has done before, she may not have the same immediate access to police protection she once did. For this reason, we appeal to the Domestic Violence Unit within the Malta Police Force to keep close watch and continue monitoring Mrs. Aquilina’s situation, especially since the official risk assessment has already flagged her as being in “high risk.”
In the coming days we will continue to shed light on two things: the legacy left behind by former Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar, and the solid, determined work of the current Commissioner Anġlu Gafà. Work that has left a bitter taste in the mouths of Robert Aquilina and those damned few he claims to represent.
Commissioner Gafà has shown that leadership is not about shouting on Facebook or running to foreign foundations for protection — leadership is about standing up, making the tough calls, and putting extremists in their place.
