Fourth Flyover Span Successfully Installed for Msida Creek

Infrastructure Malta has successfully completed the fourth flyover span lift as part of the ongoing Msida Creek Project, during overnight works carried out on Thursday 28th August. This significant milestone marks continued progress on one of Malta’s most complex and impactful infrastructure upgrades.

The newly installed span weighs 45.1 tons and measures 25.7 metres in length and
has a width of 7.1 metres. Its precise placement required extensive logistical coordination and took place during overnight hours to minimise disruption to traffic and the surrounding community.

As works progress, Infrastructure Malta announces that Mikiel Anton Vassalli Street (carriageway towards Birkirkara) will be temporarily closed on Monday 1st September from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM.

This temporary closure is necessary for the safe transport of the next flyover span to the work site. Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes during the closure hours. Directional signage and traffic management personnel will be in place to ensure safety and efficient traffic flow.

The Msida Creek Project continues to advance steadily towards its goal of
improving connectivity and reducing congestion in one of Malta’s busiest traffic hubs.

Infrastructure Malta thanks the public for its continued cooperation and patience as this national investment takes shape.
