Rose Marie Vella — The Matriarch of Hate Who Poisoned Generations

How Rose Marie Vella nurtured a legacy of arrogance, elitism, and contempt — shaping Daphne’s children into the very image of superiority she embodied.

In my last article, I explained how the Caruana Galizia name was poisoned the moment it intertwined with the Vella family. Today, I want to dig deeper into the real architect of that legacy:
Rose Marie Vella.

It is often said that children are a reflection of how they are raised. In this case, Rose Marie Vella did not instill in her children values of kindness, humility, or respect. Instead, she cultivated arrogance, elitism, and contempt for anyone who dared to be different. That was her parenting style, and it became the Vella family’s brand.

Daphne Caruana Galizia

Daphne Caruana Galizia may have been the most visible face of that hatred, but she was not the end of it. Her own children inherited the same poisonous sense of superiority. They walk around Malta not as equals among their countrymen, but as self-appointed judges, sneering down from their imaginary throne. They look at ordinary Maltese families as beneath them — unworthy of their acknowledgement unless it is to insult, belittle, or accuse.

This did not happen by accident. It is the direct result of Rose Marie’s influence. The Vella matriarch fostered an environment where disdain was normal, where compassion was dismissed as weakness, and where tearing others down was considered strength. In such a household, is it any surprise that Daphne’s sons now consider themselves an elite class above the rest of the Maltese people?

And here lies the real tragedy: a family that could have used its education, its resources, and its position to contribute positively to Malta instead chose to spread division and bitterness. Rather than humility, they chose arrogance. Rather than solidarity, they chose contempt. And generation after generation, that toxic inheritance is passed on.

Let’s stop pretending that Daphne Caruana Galizia was some isolated force of nature. The truth is simple: every word of hate that came from her pen, every venomous article churned out by her sisters, and every arrogant outburst from her sons is the product of one woman — Rose Marie Vella.

She is the matriarch who planted the seed of arrogance, who normalised contempt, and who taught her daughters and grandchildren to despise anyone who dared to be different. Daphne may have been the loudest voice, but it was Rose Marie’s poison that gave her that voice. And today, her sons and sisters are nothing more than the continuation of that toxic inheritance.

Rose Marie Vella

Every attack, every insult, every elitist sneer aimed at the Maltese people is not just Daphne’s doing — it is
Rose Marie Vella’s legacy. She is the architect of decades of division, the silent hand behind every piece of bile signed by her daughters and now echoed by her grandsons.

Until Malta confronts this truth, the cycle of arrogance and hate will continue. The Vella family’s poison has already scarred our national debate for far too long. It’s time we call it by its real name: the legacy of Rose Marie Vella — the matriarch of hate.

    Hate comes from many factors.

Daphne was human and had feelings.

She did things which were bad and had affected families and individuals.

Maybe hate and notizie rose were a good source of income for her and that income made her an independent woman.

May we not forget that 2 elections post mortem reports flag her as one of the culprits for the PN’s electoral defeats.
