Nationalist Party’s Identity Crisis Worsens Under Borg

Alex Borg loves to parade himself as the “new” leader of the Nationalist Party. But in just a few days, he’s already exposed himself as nothing more than a walking contradiction and an opportunist.

Let’s get the facts straight: Alex Borg has spent years idolising Donald Trump – the conservative guru of our times. Trump is unapologetically hardline, openly against the liberal agenda, and certainly no cheerleader for LGBT rights.

Yet on Saturday, he marched in Valletta, waving rainbow flags at Pride, pretending to be a champion of inclusivity.

So, what happened to his values?

If Borg truly believes in the conservatism he praises Trump for, he has no business being at Pride. The two worlds don’t mix. Either:

1. Alex Borg is deceiving everyone, using Pride as nothing more than an electoral photo-op to fish for votes from a community that never trusted the PN in the first place.

2. Or worse, Alex Borg doesn’t believe in anything at all – no values, no principles – just raw political desperation.

What we saw on Saturday  wasn’t courage, wasn’t solidarity, and wasn’t inclusion. It was the clearest sign yet that the PN has become a party without identity, without soul, and without direction.

Alex Borg cannot idolise Trump, the conservative strongman, and at the same time wave rainbow flags on Republic Street. That is pure hypocrisy – and the Maltese people are not stupid enough to buy it.

The truth is brutal: Alex Borg lost his values before he even started. And with a leader like him, the PN isn’t heading for renewal. It’s heading straight for another humiliating defeat.
