Alex Borg: A Leader Without Vision, A Politician Without Ideas
The so-called Leader of the Opposition, Alex Borg, continues to expose himself as a man without experience, without vision, and without a political compass. Instead of leading his party, Borg has resorted to one thing only – copying others. And worse, he doesn’t even realise when he’s parroting the Government word for word.
Borg built his short-lived career attacking former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, and yet his every move shows how much he tries to imitate him – without the political intellect and without the results. A pale copy without substance.
But now, Alex Borg has gone a step further: he is not only imitating Labour leaders, he has become the mouthpiece of the Government’s Minister of Finance.

Clyde Caruana
Just a few days ago, Borg proudly presented what he called a “new” PN proposal – a preferential tax band for families, supposedly rewarding those with more children. He claimed it was his party’s fresh idea.
The problem? This was not a PN idea at all.
The exact same proposal was already announced on 12 February 2025 in Parliament by none other than Minister Clyde Caruana. Caruana was clear and direct: “For a nation to be strong and prosperous, it must have a well-prepared young generation, and the numbers in Malta show that we do not have that,” Caruana told parliament in his adjournment speech. As a concrete step, the Minister declared that the Government would be introducing a preferential tax rate for families having a second child.
So while Caruana was outlining serious national policy, Alex Borg was sleeping. Months later, Borg dusted off the Government’s work, re-packaged it, and presented it as his own.
This is not leadership. This is plagiarism.
Alex Borg is proving daily that he lacks not only the political experience but also the vision needed to lead a party, let alone a country. He is recycling the Government’s ideas while pretending to be innovative. He is imitating Muscat without admitting it. And worst of all, he is misleading his own followers by serving up recycled Government policy as Opposition proposals.
The Nationalist Party deserves a leader with direction, ideas, and courage. What it has instead is Alex Borg – a copycat, a puppet, and a political amateur.
