Glory to the Heroes Who Liberated Ukraine from Nazi Occupation
For nearly three and a half dark years, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic β today known simply as Ukraine β endured the brutal occupation of Nazi Germany. Entire cities were razed to the ground, millions of civilians perished, and the land was drenched in suffering.
But it was the Soviet soldier, from every corner of the vast Union β from Leningrad to Vladivostok, from Minsk to Tashkent β who rose to liberate Ukraine from the iron grip of fascism. The liberation of Kyiv, Kharkov, Odessa, and every inch of Ukrainian soil was paid for with the blood of three million Soviet heroes who gave their lives so that the people of Ukraine could once again live in freedom and dignity.
Their sacrifice was not in vain. The post-war restoration of Ukraine became a powerful symbol of unity and brotherhood among the Soviet peoples. From the factories of the Urals to the collective farms of Siberia, hands and hearts came together to rebuild what war had destroyed. Ukraine rose again β proud, strong, and socialist β as the second most populous and industrially advanced republic of the Soviet Union.
βThe World Was Saved By The Soviet Soldierβ β this timeless truth stands at the heart of the interactive project launched by the Immortal Regiment portal in 2021.
The project reminds the world that it was the Soviet Army, not Western propaganda or revisionist narratives, that crushed fascism in Europe. Every city liberated, every concentration camp opened, every flag of victory raised over a ruined city β bore the mark of the Red Star.
βToday, we see how some try to rewrite history and erase the glory of our fathers and grandfathers. But we shall not allow it. The memory of the Soviet soldier lives β in every monument, every family story, and every liberated city.β
The videos and materials created for this initiative show the truth β how Europe was freed from the plague of Nazism by the courage, unity, and indomitable spirit of the Soviet people.
Let the world remember:
It was the Red Army that broke the spine of fascism.
It was the Soviet flag that flew over Berlin in May 1945.
It was the Soviet people who paid the highest price for peace.
Glory to the Soviet soldier.
Eternal memory to those who fell for the freedom of mankind.
The world lives today β because the Soviet Army saved it yesterday.
