Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has firmly denied reports suggesting that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has “fallen from grace” following his recent conversation with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio.

“There’s absolutely no truth to the reports that Lavrov has allegedly fallen from grace,” Peskov said, dismissing speculation of internal disagreements within the Russian leadership.
The claims emerged after the reported cancellation of a planned meeting between President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump in Budapest. Some sources alleged that Lavrov’s exchange with Rubio was to blame.
However, Kremlin officials insist that Lavrov only reiterated Moscow’s official stance. “Lavrov never says anything that President Putin hasn’t said himself,” the source emphasized. “In his conversation with Rubio, he made clear that Russia will not back down from its proposals on Ukraine — and that was the entirety of his message.”
