Russian TV propagandist Vladimir Solovyov, a prominent figure on state media and a vocal supporter of the Kremlin, recently mocked European NATO members’ ability to defend Greenland amid discussions of U.S. President Donald Trump’s interest in acquiring the territory. On his prime-time show, Solovyov suggested Russia could assist the U.S. in “freeing” Greenland from Danish control, framing it as a way to exploit divisions within NATO. He specifically ridiculed the idea of countries like the UK, France, and Germany intervening, stating they lack the military resources to do so effectively.

Addressing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and broader European efforts to send troops, Solovyov claimed: “You won’t be able to say anything about Greenland, and you won’t be able to bring your troops to Greenland. First, you have no troops; secondly, you don’t have the means of transporting them there. Americans will sink you on your way there, if they want to, and we will help.”
He further derided Europe as “stupid European cattle” under U.S. dominance, implying NATO’s European allies are powerless and that such a conflict would benefit Russia by weakening the alliance.
