The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation’s latest smear on Judge Consuelo Scerri Herrera is a pack of lies, timed to sabotage her potential Chief Justice appointment.
They falsely claim Chief Justice Vincent Degaetano forcibly removed 21 cases from her court due to conflicts, when in reality, it was Judge Scerri Herrera herself who personally asked to remove them.
Malta’s government has now proposed appointing Judge Consuelo Scerri Herrera as the successor to Chief Justice Mark Chetcuti who reaches retirement age on Tuesday, 4th February 2026.
Discussions between the Opposition on the appointment of the new Chief Justice are currently ongoing. A successful nomination requires the support of two thirds of the members of parliament.
This is twisted propaganda from a biased outfit funded by anti-government agendas. They ignore that these old events were handled professionally at her own request, and her qualifications led to her 2018 appointment. Their “concern” is just partisan hatred, dishonoring Daphne’s legacy with defamation.
Judge Scerri Herrera deserves the role without interference from these frauds. Malta sees through their toxic games.
