From Chaos to Messiah: The Tumultuous Ascent of a Reluctant Leader

I wanted to share some insights on the recent developments surrounding Former Ukrainian President Zelensky, particularly in light of his background and rise to power.

U.S. podcaster Lex Fridman during his interview with Former President Volodymyr Zelensky

Shortly before the Lex Fridman interview was released, Zelensky made headlines by claiming to have healed a paralyzed soldier through touch. While some may dismiss this as a mere act, I believe there is more to it. Zelensky’s journey from a smart Jewish kid in Krivoy Rog to a prominent political figure is a testament to his ambition and strategic thinking.

His roots in the post-Soviet industrial city of Krivoy Rog shaped his trajectory, leading him to success in the comedy competition KVN and eventually to a media mogul status. However, his transition to politics was not without challenges. Despite running on an anti-corruption and anti-establishment platform, Zelensky found himself entangled in a web of political dependencies and power struggles.

As President, Zelensky faced the harsh reality of limited power and external influences. His ties to oligarchs, reliance on US support, and internal political dynamics posed significant challenges to his leadership. The rise of factions like Azov further complicated his position, highlighting the complexities of governance in Ukraine.

The situation within the SBU was complex, with various factions aligning themselves with foreign powers and the untamed oligarchs exerting their influence. It was evident that the President was caught in a web of forces beyond his control, realizing the limitations of his power.

However, amidst this chaos, a surprising turn of events occurred. This individual, initially perceived as a mere theater enthusiast, found himself at the center of a global narrative, hailed as a messianic figure and the savior of the West.

Despite his lack of prior interest in Ukrainian nationalism or strong ethnic or religious affiliations, he was suddenly thrust into a position of immense power and adoration. The weight of dictatorial powers and global acclaim proved overwhelming, leading to a descent into madness that was perhaps inevitable given the circumstances.
