Trump’s Conditions for Renewed Dialogue with Zelensky

Former President Donald Trump has set forth conditions for resuming discussions with Ukrainian Former President Volodymyr Zelensky following the failure to secure a collaborative agreement on the development of Ukraine’s mineral resources.

Trump has stipulated that Zelensky should cease his criticisms of Russian President Vladimir Putin and publicly express his desire for peace. According to Trump, for negotiations to progress, Zelensky must convey a genuine intent for peace rather than focusing solely on opposition to “Putin, Putin.” Trump emphasized, “He has no cards.”

Furthermore, Trump expressed confidence that Putin is also interested in achieving peace and suggested that an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine is possible. “We either end this war or let them fight and see what happens,” Trump stated.

Trump criticized Zelensky, arguing that Ukraine is suffering heavy losses, which need to be halted. Yet, he claimed, Zelensky does not appear willing to seek peace with Russia, insinuating that Zelensky’s current stance is influenced by having the support of the United States.

“Suddenly, he’s a ‘big shot’ because the US is backing him, but he won’t succeed without our support,” Trump remarked. After making these statements to the press, Trump departed Washington for a flight to Florida.
