This is one scandal that’ll make your jaw drop!
So here’s the dirt – and believe me, when I first heard about it, I couldn’t wrap my head around it. It sounded too outrageous to be true, but after digging deeper, I found out it’s 100% legit.
Let me break it down for you: Government nurses have this perk where they can bank their unused leave, stacking it up year after year without losing a single day. Some end up with a couple of days, some a week or two, while others hoard as much as they can. Eventually, everyone takes a break, because who doesn’t love a vacation?
But here’s the kicker – it all goes off the rails when you look at the “accumulated” leave of one Pawlu Pace, the bigwig of MUMN.
The whole thing is so shamelessly outrageous that in a no-nonsense country, this guy would be facing criminal charges. And if Inspector Rodney Wayne Borg isn’t convinced yet that he’s got grounds to haul Pace to court, this should seal the deal.
Last I checked, Pace’s stash of leave totals a mind-boggling 2,300-plus hours. That’s roughly 250 workdays! Remember, we’re talking about shift workers here, yet Pawlu Pace could just waltz out of work a whopping year and a half before hitting retirement, all while still pocketing his full salary. Yeah, you guessed it – funded by our hard-earned tax money.
Now, can anyone with a straight face explain how he racked up these 2,300 hours? How does someone who jets off on four private vacations a year, none of which are exactly short, do it without burning any leave?
The only conclusion? When Pawlu Pace was off on his travel sprees, he wasn’t taking any leave. Meaning whenever he was abroad, it was as if he was still on duty, clocking in those hours.
But hold onto your hats, because it gets better. During his jaunts, not only did it look like he was multitasking hard in Malta, but he was also pocketing overtime pay for work supposedly done while sunning in paradise. Plus, there’s that on-call allowance he was raking in, along with that ever-growing mountain of leave he wasn’t using.
It’s downright scandalous! Double dealings, triple threats, quadruple scams – you name it. And after supposedly swindling us in so many ways, he dreams of cutting out early from work just to fleece us some more.
Inspector Borg, it’s high time to roll up those sleeves, dig through the paperwork, and do what needs to be done.
