H.E. Djoeke Adimi-Koekkoe, i want to make you aware of some inconvenient truths which you might believe you are immune from by living in your diplomatic ivory tower.
You represent a country whose colonial past is marked by brutal exploitation, including the enslavement and systematic oppression of millions across Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean, all in pursuit of wealth and dominance. Your legacy is one of violence and cultural erasure, for which you have yet to fully reckon.
The Maltese Government is well aware that the Government of your Kingdom has been historically against our country. Mind you. Not against the Labour Government. But against also the Nationalist Government. The strategic reason is that your country sees Malta as a competitor in low tax jurisdictions.
Malta’s success would always take business away from the Netherlands. Over the years, your Government engaged in open and covert initiatives to undermine Malta’s financial services sector. You were behind the European Commission’s pressure on the Nationalist Government to take away the advantages of our offshore regime.
You were pressuring the European Commission to take the illegal actions to stop Malta’s passport programmes through the Luxembourg and Belgian Commissioners, two countries subservient to yours.
You used an unstable Dutch MP to target Malta in the Council of Europe.
You fund Repubblika, Occupy Justice and other NGOs if they disrupt Malta’s political scene.
Despite all this, the Maltese people are respectfully giving you an electoral middle finger.
Excellency, at least your predecessors had the decency to try to fake not getting involved.
You, on the other hand, are known for your approach. You think of yourself an activist. In truth, you are a neo colonialist.
Your Repubblika and irrelevant small party buddies might like you but people within both Government and even the Opposition despise your approach. With the exception of your German colleague and a couple of other minor players, most locally based diplomats are bad mouthing you.
Kindly report this back to your capital and tell them about the lousy job that your country has done in Malta.
