The BFA Party

Eddie Fenech Adami and his family’s hold over the PN seems reminiscent of puppet masters pulling the strings while everyone else plays along.

When Eddie Fenech Adami wanted to crown himself President, many within the PN opposed such a blatant power grab. Yet, what did their opinions matter? What Eddie wants, Eddie gets. There’s an undeniable pattern here: Fenech Adami says jump, and the PN asks, “How high?”

Eddie Fenech Adami

Remember when they wanted Gonzi as leader? Who stood in their way? Surely not John Dalli, because if Eddie willed it, it was as good as done. The Fenech Adami decree called for Simon Busuttil, and like clockwork, the party complied. It’s almost as if the mere thought of dissent is an exercise in futility inside the PN, where one family’s will reigns supreme.

Adrian Delia

And when Adrian Delia dared to rise as leader? That didn’t sit well with the powers-that-be, did it? Of course not. He didn’t fit into Eddie’s grand scheme, so he was ousted, and the machine chugged on with Bernard Grech as the handpicked leader. How long will he last? As long as he serves their purpose.

In this party, the shadow of Fenech Adami looms large, making every decision predictable and every leadership change a mere formality. What Fenech Adami orders, the PN executes without question or hesitation.
