The Great Siege Monument —turned into a shrine by the Defnisti to honor the memory of Daphne Caruana Galizia—has descended into chaos, morphing into what is now referred to as the “anti-Daphne monument.”
What was once a symbol of tribute has become a scandal-laden battleground under the grip of those labeled as the “extremist mob” supporting Caruana Galizia’s legacy. The nerve of Zammit McKeon, whose reckless and senseless decision-making has only stoked the flames of outrage, is staggering.

What is being propagated now is the bearing of hatred by an unscrupulous woman who had one thing at heart – tarnishing individuals with whatever came to her mind without realizing that society at large knew who she were – a tax evader, hate blogger, charged with domestic violence, and PN corruption gatekeeper. Is it for this rack that such a unifying monument is now dedicated?
