What a hypocrite, Robert Aquilina.
Back in February 2023, St. Robert Aquilina had no shame pointing his moral finger at a developer just because he dared keep a portrait of St. George Preca beside him. From behind his keyboard, he scoffed at him, calling him “a living monument to arrogance and chaos” — as if he is Malta’s appointed judge of who’s worthy of saints and blessings.
He wrote:
“Portelli thinks that because he became a millionaire through the chaos, he can buy everything and everyone. A living monument to arrogance and chaos. Go get it, if St. George Preca were to come face to face with him, what a papal scolding he would give him!”
Strong words, Robert. Self-righteous, cheap words from a man who, behind his own front door, was hiding something far worse than arrogance: a home shattered by fear, intimidation, and abuse.
Robert Aquilina, who never missed a chance to judge others for a decade, few days ago stood accused in court of domestic violence and the illegal arrest of his own wife — a police risk assessment even concluded her life was in danger.
Robert Aquilina labelled everyone else as corrupt, criminal, immoral. Just like his hero Daphne, he terrorised families with his slander, poisoned public debate while playing the saint of “good governance.” But the truth always finds its way out.
So here’s a simple reminder to all who ever believed his moral sermons: the same man who mocked Joe Portelli for keeping a saint’s portrait is today the same man who faced the courts for terrorising his own household.
Saints, Robert? You might want to pray to one now. You’ll need more than papal scoldings to clean this mess.

Imagine if San Gorg Preca had to be given instructions from the violent and hater Nutar Robert Aquilina?
