Ranting into Irrelevance: Kevin Cassar’s Screams of Dictatorship

Kevin Cassar is at it again, screeching doomsday from his Shift News pulpit. According to him, Malta is now a one-party state, Parliament has been hijacked, democracy is dead, and Labour has transformed into some Orbán-style dictatorship overnight. What utter drivel.

Cassar conveniently ignores reality: electoral boundaries are revised by the Electoral Commission as required by law to reflect demographic shifts. But to him, everything is a grand conspiracy against the PN. The truth is that Labour wins elections because the people vote for Labour. Simple as that. It’s not gerrymandering; it’s democratic will.

As for constitutional changes, Cassar peddles fear about “absolute power” when, in reality, reforms are strengthening governance structures to reflect modern needs. His melodramatic references to Hungary and doomsday analogies are nothing more than desperate scaremongering by a man whose political relevance depends on fuelling paranoia.

The only thing being hijacked here is common sense by Cassar’s delusional pen. And let’s be honest – the only real hijack taking place is within the Nationalist Party itself, now fully controlled by the Fenech Adami family. The same family of Kevin Cassar that has transformed the PN into the BFA Party: Beppe Fenech Adami’s personal fiefdom.
