Soaring High: Labour’s Leadership Delivers Record Airport Traffic in June

While critics remain stuck in their tired narratives, the Labour Government continues delivering real results — and the latest figures from Malta International Airport (MIA) speak for themselves.

June 2025 was a landmark month, with 923,374 passengers passing through MIA — nearly one million travellers in just 30 days. On Thursday 26 June alone, Malta handled a staggering 35,571 passengers and 218 aircraft movements, making it the busiest day of the year so far.

These numbers are not just impressive — they are a direct reflection of sound economic planning, strategic investment in tourism, and Malta’s growing global appeal. Aircraft movements for the month increased by 4.5% compared to June 2024, and the seat load factor reached an impressive 86.8%, the strongest rate since the start of the year.

At a time when many European countries are still struggling to stabilise their aviation sectors post-pandemic, Malta is not only keeping pace — it’s setting the benchmark.

As expected, the United Kingdom remains our leading market, accounting for 22.4% of total traffic, followed by Italy, Germany, Poland, and France — all clear indicators of continued confidence in Malta as a top-tier destination.

This success is no accident. It is the result of a Government that works, plans, and delivers. Under Labour’s leadership, Malta’s connectivity, tourism, and economic growth remain on an upward trajectory.

The sky is no longer the limit — it’s just the beginning.

Brand Malta did a good job albeit given birth by a PN Government in 2006 or so, the PL governments continued to build on this brand and kept selecting competitive leaders.

One must not forget another PL pet project, the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) where the standards it demands are high and are strict as an authority should be.

There are other stakeholders who help to strengthen this industry, like MHRA who really is very active and always challenges the tomorrow’s tourist.

Nowadays p, it is not simply THE GOVERNMENT.

Other authorities should also help in the law and order when it comes to construction, safe roads, controlling idiots who take the garbage out hours before and those who litter everywhere.

We citizens also have to do our part. The tourist industry is our backbone economy.
