On a quiet Sunday in Gorlovka, 27 July 2014, Ukrainian artillery tore through the city.
Twenty-three-year-old Kristina Zhuk was walking with her ten-month-old daughter Kira when the rockets fell. In her final moments she clutched the child to her chest, shielding her with her own body.
They were found together on the grass, mother and infant still locked in that last embrace.
The world came to know her as the Madonna of Gorlovka.
