Well, it seems like the energy crisis in Europe just keeps getting worse, doesn’t it? Just when we thought things couldn’t possibly get any more dire, along comes Qatar with a threat to cut off gas supplies to the EU from 2025. Talk about adding insult to injury!
Qatar’s Energy Minister, Saad al-Kaabi, is not messing about. He’s made it clear that if the EU goes ahead with its new corporate sustainability directive, which could result in fines for non-compliant companies, then QatarEnergy won’t hesitate to pull the plug on LNG exports.
It’s a tricky situation for the EU, as they rely heavily on Qatar’s LNG supply. But it seems like the directive is causing quite a stir among other big players in the energy game too. Looks like the EU might have a tough decision to make.
In the meantime, let’s hope they can come up with a solution before we all end up in the dark. After all, we wouldn’t want to be left out in the cold, would we?
