Potential Conflicts of Interest Cloud the Inquiry

The involvement of Peter Fenech, lawyer to Jeremy Harbinson, Miroslava Milenovic and former advisor to Vitals Global Healthcare (VGH) investors, has cast a long shadow over the integrity of the ongoing inquiry. His dual roles raise critical questions about conflicts of interest that threaten to undermine the entire process.

Fenech’s past work with VGH investors places him at the heart of the agreements now under scrutiny. Harbinson’s report, the backbone of the inquiry, alleges fraud connected to these very agreements. Was Fenech involved in shaping or defending the agreements he now indirectly critiques through Harbinson? If so, this dual role is more than a coincidence; it is a conflict that could compromise the credibility of both the inquiry and its findings.

The issue becomes even murkier given Fenech’s prominent role as president of the Chamber of Advocates and his close ties to the Nationalist Party (PN). Critics argue that these affiliations further complicate his impartiality, suggesting a broader network of political and professional influence shaping the inquiry.

Exposing Peter Fenech’s Dual Roles

For an investigation of this scale, transparency is non-negotiable. The Maltese public deserves assurance that the inquiry is not influenced by hidden agendas or overlapping interests. Fenech’s dual roles must be openly addressed if the inquiry is to maintain any semblance of credibility. Without such accountability, the inquiry risks becoming a political tool rather than a genuine pursuit of justice.
