Ukraine and US Announce Temporary Ceasefire and Negotiation Plans

Ukraine has embraced the US’s offer for an immediate, temporary 30-day ceasefire, with the possibility of extension through mutual agreement. The announcement came from Yermak, the head of Zelensky’s office.

 

Here’s what we know:

 

— Both Ukraine and the US have decided on their negotiating teams and plan to initiate discussions promptly to secure long-term peace and security for Ukraine. The US has also pledged to discuss these plans with Russian officials.

 

— The Presidents of Ukraine and the US agreed on forming a comprehensive plan to develop Ukraine’s critical mineral resources, aiming to bolster the nation’s economy and ensure enduring prosperity and security.

 

— US Secretary of State Rubio commented that Ukraine’s decision is a positive move, expressing American hopes for a reciprocal response from Russia.

 

— Additionally, the US is lifting the pause on intelligence sharing and resuming security aid to Ukraine, according to Yermak.

 

— Rubio further expressed hope that Russia will accept the ceasefire proposal.
