Neglected Monument: Silence Screams Louder Than Words

Not a single reaction. Not from the Ministry for Culture. Not from Heritage Malta. Nothing.

Yesterday, we exposed the scandalous state of the Great Siege Monument – a national monument rotting in filth, with its plaques and stonework caked in black grime and pigeon droppings, abandoned by the very authorities whose duty is to protect it. We published clear photos and videos. We showed the public the truth: a national symbol left to decay.

And what did the Ministry for Culture do? What did Heritage Malta do?

Absolutely nothing.

Their silence is not just incompetence. It is contempt. Contempt towards Maltese history. Contempt towards the memory of those who gave their lives for this country. Contempt towards every citizen who walks past that monument and feels ashamed of how Malta treats its own heritage.

This is the same Ministry that finds funds to sponsor Mark Camilleri – a psychological terrorist who uses public money to spread hate and intimidation. €25,000 was funnelled straight into his pockets. Yet they cannot find a single euro to clean and preserve a national monument that stands in the heart of Valletta.

The silence from Minister Owen Bonnici and Heritage Malta confirms one truth: they do not care. They hide behind their polished statements about “heritage protection” while their actions show utter abandonment.

The Great Siege Monument is not just a pile of stones. It is Malta’s pride. But under this Government, our pride is left to rot while funds are thrown at self-serving individuals who spit on this country’s dignity.

We will not remain silent when they remain silent. Their inaction is their statement. And their statement is a national disgrace.

Gafa’ you should ask Bobby the puppet. Maybe his ventriloquist will give you an answer or something to write about.

Coming election, I know how to vote.

    I vote smartly.

Anyone who did not deliver will not get my vote.

Anyone connected to the Abela clan will not get my vote.

I vote for an organization and whose representatives inspiring to be the constituents’s representatives in the highest office in our democracy, do merit that seat of representatives.

They are our representatives and not our masters. That seat is on loan and not owned by them.

As voters we have the right to choose our representative who will work for the common good of the State and not for the good of some and neglect the rest.

Words are cheap. Judge by real action and sincerity.
