Adrian Delia: The Smiling Snake of the Nationalist Party

He preaches unity on stage — but wages war behind closed doors

The civil war within the Nationalist Party has officially begun.

What was meant to be a leadership race between colleagues has now devolved into a bloody internal conflict, riddled with lies, betrayal, and backstabbing. And at the centre of this hypocrisy? Adrian Delia — the man who talks about loyalty with a smile while planting daggers behind the scenes.

Adrian Delia

Delia, now once again vying for leadership of the PN — the same party that kicked him out in disgrace — is painting himself as the “mature statesman,” extending olive branches to his rival Alex Borg in public. He says he’s not angry. He says he wants Alex to grow alongside him. He says they can work together.

But behind closed doors, he’s saying something very different.

Public Unity, Private Sabotage

According to well-placed PN sources who contacted this blog, Adrian Delia was recently confronted at a party event in Mqabba by activists who asked a simple question:

“Will you work with Alex Borg if he is elected leader?”

Delia’s answer was an immediate no.

Let that sink in.

To the cameras and the press, he wants to “see Alex grow.”

But to the PN grassroots, in the safety of closed conversations, he’s already plotting against the man he calls a friend.

This is not leadership. This is deceit of the highest order.

The War Is On — And Delia Lit the Match

Let’s not pretend this is just a personal rivalry.

What’s happening inside the Nationalist Party is a full-blown civil war, triggered the moment Delia broke the alleged pact he had with Alex Borg and threw his name into the race?

He betrayed the agreement?

He forced the split?

And now, he’s trying to mask his desperation with empty words of peace and reconciliation.

The truth?

Adrian Delia cannot stand the idea of Alex Borg becoming leader — because Alex Borg’s popularity exposes Delia’s irrelevance.

A Master of Mixed Messages

This is classic Delia:

  • Preach unity.

  • Fuel division.

  • Smile to your rival’s face.

  • Whisper poison into activists’ ears.

This is the same Delia who once promised to clean up the PN, only to be surrounded by chaos, internal coups, and political failure.

Now he returns — not to rebuild, but to take revenge on the party that once ousted him. And he’s willing to burn the entire house down if that’s what it takes to sit on the throne again.

Adrian Delia wants to be seen as the unifier.

But the truth is far uglier: he’s the divider.

Adrian Delia: The Smiling Snake of the Nationalist Party

Behind the fake smiles and staged humility is a man obsessed with power, rattled by the rise of someone younger, fresher, and more connected to the PN grassroots.

Delia didn’t come back to lead.

He came back to destroy.

And if the Nationalist Party doesn’t wake up soon, the civil war he started will leave it in ruins.
